Harold Remembers Trips Past…

Harold_wanderlustHarold is really getting excited about our upcoming trip. He’s beginning to get out the photo books and reminisce. Harold’s adventures include : a winter trip to Hawaii in 2012; Last summer’s sojourn to Nantes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, and Angouleme, France; a few stays in Portland, OR.; somewhat local jaunts to Paso Robles and Lompoc, and his first BIG trip to London, Paris and Provence in 2010. This little stufftie gets around!

Ode to travel preparations

Twas the week before travelin’ and Harold’s been busy
Packing and checking and getting all dizzy.
His backpack is filled up, his papers in order
(In case he gets stopped as we pass through a border)

All that’s left is waiting for the day that we leave
As he reads up on places to go, (by Rick Steves)
Paris for Christmas, with church bells and lamplight
Amsterdam for New Years, fireworks at midnight

His lovely beret keeps his head nice and warm
His scarf compliments his soft chubby form
So follow along and we’ll see where he goes
Harold and his people, through rainclouds and snows

Harold’s New Sac a Dos

Harold got himself a new backpack, thanks to his personal seamstress, Judy. Harold chose the materials… A pleather with polka dot trim. You can see what he is bringing thus far… A small tin with a few trinkets… Including some photos, buttons, & tiddly winks. He has pen and paper as well as a medallion to St. Therese. Of course, he may change the contents of his backpack before the trip…. It’s a bit heavy at the moment.

Winter Restlessness

By nature, it seems, most critters use winter as a time to curl up and re-charge their batteries. But this winter, Harold is feeling restless. He didn’t get to travel this summer, and he missed it.

So what’s a stufftie to do? Harold has convinced us that we ought to shake off the shackles of a mild, sunny winter for rainy, possibly snowy,  climes. And so we are all heading off to Europe! In late December and January, we will be roaming…from Paris, through Ghent, to Amsterdam, a quick stop in Cologne, and finally, Strasbourg, before heading home.

Stay tuned to this site for our adventures..three reasonably mature adults and a stufftie, off to see Christmas in Paris and New Years Eve in Amsterdam, with a few stops along the way to eat, drink, and be merry.

New book…

I found Harold reading the new Squid Row book this morning… I think he likes to see himself in print. He tells me his favorite storyline is when Ryan finds the gnome when he’s unpacking from moving and he thinks it belongs to Randie… Harold_Down Harold2_down

Harold Gets A bath

This gallery contains 7 photos.

Okay, so we all know that Harold hasn’t been his jolly stufftie self lately. He hasn’t wanted to go out, he’s been drinking more, and we hear him stomping around at night, unable to sleep. So we took a long, … Continue reading

Harold has been depressed…

I now it has been a really long time since Harold posted anything here on his site… He has been really depressed since we got back from France. He has lost weight, he hasn’t bathed for awhile…and he won’t leave the house. He even missed a trip to Paso Robles… For a while it seemed like he was coming around… He came with me to The Alternative Press Expo in San Fran… But then he slid back into his sad demeanor. The other day he finally opened up. He told me he misses France a great deal and wants to go back. I really can’t blame him. I feel the same way. So we talked it over at great length and I think he feels better. I shared our plans to not only revisit France, but to visit French-Canadian places… This made him perk up… So I convinced him to bathe, which he promises he will do, and he seems interested in leaving the house. Progress.

On this happy note, I will post photos of APE.

A Day at the Park

Today we decided to relax in the Jardin de Luxembourg… We have been traveling around Paris and feeling the city-ness… and wanted less stress. So we took us a picnic lunch of a tasty poppyseed baguette, a delicious hummus, an unpretentious rosé, the last of our artisan sausage and for dessert, Nutella. Oh…. Soooo good. We pulled some chairs up to a bench and we et.

After lunch we strolled, let Harold watch the boats at the fountain/pond and mostly stayed in the shade. It was not as warm as it has been, but certainly hot for my likes.
